Man gets death sentence

RAWALPINDI, Sept 29: A special judge of the anti-terrorism court here on Saturday awarded death sentence to a man on two counts for killing a policeman.

Rana Masood Akhtar, the special judge, also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the convict.

Kashif Hussain was arrested by the New Town police for killing policeman Ashiq Hussain and injuring two other cops during a raid on the hideout of suspected car lifters at Pindora in May 2011.

Public Prosecutor Sheikh Istajabat Hussain told the court that the police had booked the man for the murder and possessing illegal weapons.
