KARACHI, Sept 17: An elderly woman and her daughter were found murdered in their Gulshan-i-Iqbal house on Monday, police said.They said that 80-year-old Fatima Bai and her daughter Shabana, 40, were found dead in their apartment in New Dhorajee in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s block 3. Gulshan division SP Asad Raza said that a relative informed the police that there was no response from the apartment of the two women. The police reached there and entered the apartment and found the bodies. It appeared that the bodies had lain there for 10 to 12 hours, he added.

“The elderly woman was suffocated to death while her daughter was stranguled with a piece of cloth around her neck,” the area SP said.

Quoting family members, the police said that Shabana was a divorcee and her former husband had been threatening the family.

The police suspected the former husband as a prime suspect.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Man found shot dead

A young man was found shot dead in the Ramsawami area within the remit of the Garden police station on Monday evening.

Police said that unknown men brought the victim on a motorcycle at a deserted place near Nishtar Road, shot him in the head and rode away.

The victim died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
