PESHAWAR, Sept 15: A senior leader of the Awami National Party, Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, has said that his party will not enter into an electoral alliance with the Pakistan People’s Party in the coming election.

Talking to reporters after laying the foundation stone of Shabbir Ahmed Bilour surgical intensive care unit at the Lady Reading Hospital on Saturday, he said the ANP would contest the election on its own and would win because the party “believes in serving people”.

Renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was an achievement of his party and had gladdened people of the province because they had got their identity for the first time since the making of Pakistan, Senator Bilour said.

He praised President Asif Ali Zardari for holding the ANP in “high esteem” as an ally in the coalition government.

Ilyas Bilour claimed the ANP had emerged as a big political force because of selfless efforts made by its leadership for well-being of people.

Mr Bilour said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was ready to hold local government elections, but non-availability of electoral lists was the obstacle. He said that the surgical ICU would be built in one year at a cost of Rs50 million.— A Reporter
