THE port city of Karachi and all, as well as all big and medium-sized cities in the country suffer on account of growing and howling traffic mess. Karachi, with its many factories, industries, shopping centres, big markets, offices, residential plazas, hospitals, schools, colleges and universities is throbbing with great economic, social, educational and cultural activities.

Along with life throbbing at a huge speed, there too are snags, roadblocks, limitations -- some of them of people’s own making, some of their leaders’ making, some created by vested interests.

Karachi is always busy in every situation. So, regarding these things, the city has a big traffic problem that must not be ignored by the government.

The problems we find are: there are lots of automobiles which go on increasing day by day without any supportive infrastructure.

This is so because there are fewer signal-free corridors and no alternative roads. People park their cars randomly, creating a great traffic mess all around. This is so in spite of the fact that there are parking lodges available nearby.

Another problem is that old and rickety vehicles are plying with varying speed creating congestion etc.

Most drivers cannot read traffic signs. Hence violation of traffic rules. There is a need to look into the problem before it goes beyond our control. Anybody listening.
