KARACHI: At least twenty people have been killed, including six women, and over 30 others were injured after a garments factory at Hub River Road caught fire, DawnNews reported.
Dozens of male and female factory workers were stuck in the factory at the time that the fire broke out. Firefighters were at the scene trying to put out the flames.
More than 40 fire trucks are reported to be at site of the blaze.
The fire had suddenly broken out and soon enveloped the fourth floor of the factory. Many of the factory workers had to break the windows to escape from the fire.
People from the neighbouring areas came out in large numbers to the scene, hampering rescue operations.
Injured people have been shifted to Civil Hospital where an emergency has been declared. Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad has given directives to provide relief to all those affected by the fire.
