OUR citizens often experience an unpleasant and unhealthy environment with huge garbage dumps in most cities of Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. The situation is also highly unethical.

Till now no measures have been taken to shift such garbage dumps from posh localities and market places to the outskirts of cities.

This should be done on an urgent basis as it is the responsibility of the respective municipalities of each city.

These garbage dumps provide a source for various diseases and, therefore, require the immediate attention of the authorities concerned.

The City Government and Karachi Municipality Corporation (KMC) are requested to shift the huge garbage dumps located on Sir Syed Road, PECHS – III (close to the junction of Tariq Road and Sir Syed Road).

Since both Tariq Road and Sir Syed Road are conjested areas with important shopping centres, the presence of huge garbage dumps is highly objectionable and they need to be shifted immediately to a more suitable location.

This will provide people living in these localities as well as shoppers with a pleasant environment.
