ISLAMABAD, Sept 6: Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development (CAD) Nazar M. Gondal has directed the heads of the public sector hospitals of the capital to make all necessary arrangements to tackle patients infected with dengue, if any, as the season of the deadly mosquito has begun.

The minister was chairing a high-level meeting here at the ministry to chalk out a plan for dealing with the disease.

“Complete preparations must be in place well before we receive any cases of dengue fever in capital hospitals. You need to thoroughly examine the existing facilities, further help and assistance required, etc. and get back to us on Monday to finalise a proper procedure as a precautionary measure”, said the minister, He directed that adequate arrangements like reservation of special and netted beds, diagnosis facilities and availability of necessary medicines shall be made. He added that the hospital authorities should be proactively prepared to handle the situation in case any patient is suffering from fever.

The minister also directed the officials of the ministry to issue instructions to the public sector educational institutions for taking precautionary measures, against the dengue virus.

He said that the administration must arrange for fumigation etc; and students must be educated to take protective measures in this season.
