Transport fares increased

RAWALPINDI, Sept 6: The Punjab government has increased stop-to-stop fares of public transport on urban routes by Re1, said a notification issued here on Thursday.

Talking to media, Secretary Rawalpindi Transport Authority (RTA) Asad Raza Kazmi said the four-km distance fare, which was Rs15, had now been fixed at Rs16 while the fares for four to eight km distance would be Rs20.

He said the new fare for eight to 14 km distance would be Rs24; 14 to 22 km Rs30 and from 14 to 22 km it would be Rs35. On the 30 km routes, the passengers would have to pay Rs41.—APP

Anti-encroachment drive

RAWALPINDI, Sept 6: The Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) on Thursday confiscated eight truckloads of old tyres and other items from different markets.

The RTMA has launched a drive to clear the city of unwrapped and old tyres kept under the open sky as water standing beneath them is considered a haven for the breeding of dengue larvae.

Administrator Rawal Town Saif Anwar Jappa has directed the enforcement department to expedite the drive in all areas of the city and make concerted efforts for the success of the anti-dengue campaign.—APP

Stolen car recovered

ATTOCK, Sept 6: The police recovered a stolen car (AGJ-245 Sindh), which had been lifted from Wah Factory area, and arrested the alleged car lifter near Burhan Interchange, the spokesman added.

The police identified the accused as Atif Azeem, a resident of Wah Cantonment. — Correspondent
