LARKANA, Dec 26: Five members of the National Assembly from Larkana on Thursday urged the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to clearly instruct commercial banks regarding extension of small agricultural loans of up to Rs25,000 to farmers in the calamity- hit areas.

The five MNAs, Khalid Iqbal Memon, Mohammed Anwar Bhutto, Shahid Hussain Bhutto, Hizbullah Bughio and Ramesh Lal, said while the SBP insisted that it had issued clear instructions, the commercial banks simply refused to extend such loans despite repeated announcements by the government in this regard.

These loans, worth Rs25,000, were part of a relief package for the drought-hit areas.

Stressing on the need for benefiting the common man in this regard, they said that many areas of Mirokhan, Kambar and Warah had been included in this category.

MPA ROBBED OF CAR : A member of the provincial assembly, Najamuddin Abro, was deprived of his car late Wednesday night near Panhwar Laro while he was on his way to Warah.

The Karachi-registered car (C-0546) was snatched after five outlaws overpowered the inmates of the car.

Two of the outlaws drove away with the vehicle while three of them kept the MPA, his driver, Fatah Daudani and Mohammad Khawar and deprived them of their valuables. All three of them were released after being detained for some time.

The MPA later reported the incident to the concerned police station, but no progress was made for his car’s recovery.
