LAHORE, Aug 31: One of the PML-Q women MPAs who had been manhandled by treasury members in the recently concluded Punjab Assembly session, has approached the speaker seeking an inquiry into the incident.

In a letter addressed to Speaker Rana Iqbal, MPA Majida Zaidi has demanded that the chair hold an impartial inquiry and present the report in the house about the injustice done to her in the session.

Ms Zaidi, who has submitted a privilege motion with the assembly secretariat regarding the incident, said proceedings of the provincial assembly continued although the opposition had pointed out broken quorum in the Aug 29 sitting of the house.

She said as she passed by the law minister’s seat to go out of the house, some “miscreant” women MPAs of the PML-N -- Razia Joseph, Sakina Shaheen and Dr Ghazala Rana -- beat her at the behest of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. The law minister, in the meantime, flung abuses at her which were aired by several TV channels.

She said the PML-N women MPAs also thrashed Seemal Kamran, Amna Ulfat (both of PML-Q) and Sajida Mir (of PPP) when they came to her rescue.
