KARACHI, Aug 25: Three people were killed in different areas of the city on Saturday, police said.

Three unidentified men on a motorbike came to a hairdresser’s shop in Bheempura area and one of them shot dead Shahzad Alim, the proprietor.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital.

Alim was a resident of Shershah area and said to be a member of the Anjuman-Shabab-ul-Momineen organisation.

Police said the murder seemed to be part of the recent wave of sectarian violence.

Two people were killed when criminal gangs exchanged fire in Haji Mureed Goth of Gulbahar area.

Police said members of the gangs involved in drug trafficking and other cri-minal activities had a dispute over money that turned violent.

The deceased were identified as Saleh Mohammad and Anwar Baloch.

Police and Rangers cordoned off the area to avert further attacks.
