Community policing

Published August 24, 2012

THE modus operandi of policing has changed significantly globally where it has seriously been felt to seek the support of the local community as well as in apprehending criminals through the help of community policing.

I strongly believe that with the introduction of community policing in Pakistan, we, in collaboration with the local police, can be able to identify and arrest all those elements which have been involved in different anti-state activities.

With the help of community policing, the local police can seek the much-needed cooperation and confidence of the local community of an area in arresting anti-society elements.

The idea of community policing has successfully been working in many countries of the world such as Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden and India (Janamaithri Suraksha Project by government of Kerala).

Besides this, the UN police have been operating in many troubled regions of the world with the assistance of community policing.

Our government should seriously think on these lines. This will help in improving the law and order situation in the country.
