KOHAT, Aug 23: Three policemen were killed when armed men ambushed their van in Hangu district on Thursday morning, police sources said.

The patrol was on its way to the upper part of the district when it came under fire in Kotki area, they said, adding the assailants disappeared into the mountains after the ambush which left all three policemen on the van dead.

The personnel were identified as Constables Mazhar Shah, who belonged to Bannu, Tahir Khan (Hangu) and Jehanzeb of Peshawar.

Police started investigation after registering a case under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 302 of the PPC. The bodies were taken to hospital in Hangu from where they were sent to their homes.—Correspondent
