PESHAWAR, Aug 23: Police arrested three kidnappers and recovered a youth from Kheshgi who had been abducted from Lahore on August 7.

Speaking at a press conference at Chamkani police station on Thursday SP (rural circle) Shafiullah Khan said that a youth Mohammad Nawaz, son of Mohammad Ayub, resident of Deputy Colony Road, Shahab Park, Lahore, had been kidnapped and the accused had demanded Rs3 million for his release.

He said the accused had initially received Rs0.2 million from father of the youth at a hideout in Chamkani and asked him to bring the rest of money to Kheshgi. He said both the parties had regular contact on cellular phones which was monitored by the police.

The SP said policemen in plainclothes arrested three of the kidnappers, who had come to receive the money at Kheshgi. They were identified as Hakeem Khan, Shah Zeb and Siraj. The kidnapped youth was safely recovered.

The kidnappers told media men on the occasion that the youth was driver at Lahore airport and that he had been kidnapped with the help of a handsome girl. “One day she talked to him on phone and called him on the second day to a building where we caught him and after giving some intoxicants shifted him to Peshawar,” the accused said.

Meanwhile, police arrested 105 suspected persons, including 10 proclaimed offenders, during raids in Mathra, Daudzai, Mattani and Regi areas on Thursday. A spokesman said police also recovered 53 pistols, 6 Kalashnikovs and two Kalakovs and over 6,000 cartridges of different bore from their possession.
