HYDERABAD, Aug 12: Activists and supporters of the Bheel Intellectual Forum demonstrated in different parts of Sindh on Sunday in protest against alleged injustices meted out to the Hindu community.

In Hyderabad, they gathered outside the press club and raised anti-government slogans.

Lal Chund and Harchund Roy, who led the demonstration, alleged that Hindus were being threatened to leave their property and business. Their men were being kidnapped for ransom and their girls were being forced to change religion in the name of marriages.

They demanded that the government should provide protection to Hindus who were being forced to migrate to other countries.

They said the Hindus had been living here for centuries and educated Hindus, including doctors, engineers, professors and businessmen, played an important role in national development.

In Umerkot, scores of Hindu youth took out a procession on a call given by the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party and marched from Thar bazaar to the press club.

Leaders of the forum Bhag Chand Bheel and Amar Chand Bheel and STP leaders Mohammad Ali Junejo and Ahmed Kapri said that minorities were being attacked to settle scores in the name of religion.

They criticised kidnapping of Hindu traders and Hindu girls and forced conversion. They said their lives and property were not safe and their religious places were being occupied.

This was the reason, they said, for the migration of Hindus from Umerkot, Khipro and other areas to India and other countries. They said the government must protect their lives, religious places and property.

Similar processions were taken out in Diplo, Islamkot, Chhachhro, Mirpurkhas, Kunri, Naukot, Sindhri, Khipro, Sanghar and other cities and towns.

In Mithi, activists of the Bheel Intellectual Forum marched from Bheel colony to the press club.

Forum leaders Chandi Ram and Megh Raj alleged that kidnappings and robberies had made the lives of Hindu people miserable, but the authorities played the role of silent spectators.

They appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of excesses and injustices. They urged the government to provide protection to Hindus to stop their migration.
