MINGORA, Dec 21: The district council of Swat has expressed concern over the delay in re-shifting of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education from Chakdara to Saidu Sharif in Swat.

Earlier, Dec 23 was fixed as the deadline to resolve the matter.

Speakers on Friday urged the provincial government to shift the board without delay and warned of protest demonstrations if the deadline was not met.

The union council Nazimeen, Mumtaz Khan, Fazal Mabood alias Baboo, Karamul Hadi, Fazal Hayat Chitan and others took part in the debate.

They also staged walk-out to register their protest.

Convener Mohammad Nisar Khan said that the debate would continue on Saturday. The Nazimeen condemned the police for resorting to baton-charge and teargas shelling against the students, and termed it a cowardice act.

The district Nazim, Dr Mehboobur Rehman, briefed the council about his meeting with Chief Minister Mohammad Akram Durrani who, according to him, had assured him of re-shifting the board to Swat.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the political parties and student organizations was held on Friday.

ANP leader Wajid Ali Khan, PPP leader Iqbal Hussain Balay, and others spoke.

They asked the people to come to the hall on Sunday at 11am to decide the future line of action regarding the board.
