ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: Police have recovered a four-year-old girl, who was kidnapped on Sunday from Shahzad Town police area, and arrested the kidnappers.

Giving details at a press conference here on Friday, IGP Bani Amin Khan said soon after the incident was reported to the police four teams were constituted to trace Hamail Najeeb.

He said the teams inspected the site of the incident and traced a mobile number written on a paper which was thrown by the kidnappers near the house of the abducted girl so that her family members could contact them.

Proceeding in the same line, the police succeeded in tracing Alamgir, the mastermind, through a mobile number. He was asked to come to Melody Chowk. When he arrived he was taken into custody.

During initial interrogation he confessed to kidnapping the girl and said his father, brother and Nadir Ali were also involved in the crime.

He said he used motorbike during the kidnapping which was later sold at Waris Khan.

The police asked Alamgir to call his brother at Dhokri Chowk where he was arrested by SP Ilyas. His father was also arrested in the same fashion.

During interrogation, Alamgir said the abducted girl was in the custody of Ali. He said Ali had been booked in a theft case by Sher Garh police station and that he had asked Alamgir to arrange Rs50,000 so he could pay to the police for withdrawal of case.

Police asked Alamgir to call Ali and asked him to come to Islamabad and collect the amount but Ali invited him to Sher Garh.

The IG said it was decided not to take any risk and a police team was sent to Sher Garh under the supervision of SP Ilyas. When Ali came to meet Alamgir the SP managed to overpower him and shifted to the nearest police station for interrogation.

He told the police that the girl had been shifted to a house in the village Qutab Garh. The police team raided the place and recovered the girl.
