Two girls gunned down

CHAKWAL, Aug 9: Two girls were gunned gown in separate incidents while the alleged killer of one ended his lifeafter committing the crime, police said on Thursday.

In the first incident, a man allegedly shot his sister dead in the name of honour in Panjain village located in limits Dohman police station.

According to details, SB had married TM in Bheen village a couple of years back. There she allegedly established extra-marital relations with another man and few days ago, she was said to have eloped with him and later returned to the house of his father on Saturday. Her action enraged her brother, Mubashir Hussain, who killed her.

In the second incident that occurred in the jurisdiction of Dhudial police station, a man first gunned down his fiancé and later committed suicide. —Correspondent

Fata teachers regularised

ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: President Asif Ali Zardari has issued instructions to regularise the services of all contractual teachers in federally administered tribal areas (Fata), it has been learnt.

In the same way, the president instructed the government to double the number of quota seats for Fata students in all Pakistani engineering and medical universities and colleges.

The president issued these instructions while State Minister for Commerce Abbas Khan Afridi called on him at Aiwan-i-Sadr on Thursday and discussed matters regarding Fata reforms and different facilitation packages for the region.

The federal government had already selected 2,000 students from Fata and Balochistan to educate them in the universities of settled area but, due to financial crunch, scholarships to those students had not been paid since February this year.—A Reporter
