Two bodies recovered

PESHAWAR, Aug 7: Two bodies were recovered from different areas here on Tuesday, police said.

An official said a body packed in a sack had been recovered from Aryana Road in limits of Khazana police station which was later identified as that of Shafiq of Sulemankhel Badbher.

His relatives, Manzoor and Zain Khan, told police the deceased had been missing for past one month.

Another body of an unidentified man was found in limits of East Cantonment police station. An official of Civil Quarters police post said the body carried signs of violence but it seemed to be that of a drug addict. The body was shifted to local mortuary for autopsy. —Bureau Report

One killed on road

MANSEHRA, Aug 7: A man was killed and two others sustained critical injuries when a motorbike collided head-on with a pick-up van here on Tuesday.

The incident happened in Dara area when a Mansehra-bound speeding pick-up van went out of the control of the driver and collided head-on with the upcoming motorbike.

Mohammad Bilal, Ijaz Ahmad and Mohammad Rafaqat were injured as a result of the incident and were taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. Mohammad Bilal was later on referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad where he succumbed to injuries. The police after lodging the FIR started investigation. —Correspondent

Missing man not traced

KARAK, Aug 7: A passenger coach driver missing for the last two days may have been kidnapped, fears his family. His Relatives have registered FIR of the incident in Karak police station.

Family sources informed here on Tuesday that driver Khursheed, resident of Jandri area, was asked by some unknown man and four women to take them to Mianwali from Amberi Kala bus stand. Later, the driver informed his family about the trip but after one day he lost contact with his family.

The sources said police on Tuesday found the coach (A 3811 MI) abandoned near Ayakhel area on Indus Highway, but whereabouts of Khursheed were unknown.

His relatives said they had no enmity with anyone, adding so far no one had contacted them for any kind of demand. —Correspondent

Levies personnel penalised

TANK, Aug 7: The South Waziristan political administration has deducted Rs115,000 from the salaries of Levies personnel as a penalty for not performing duties at political compound Tank during operation against militants in the region.

The political administration had appointed 143 levies force men from Mehsud and Dothani tribes of South Waziristan to look after administrative activities and maintenance of law and order in the region. However, due to growing activities of militants and consequent military operation Rah-i-Nejat the Levies personnel were asked to guard the political compound in Tank.

But their continued absence from duties prompted the administration to deduct Rs115,000 from the July 2012 salaries of 40 Levies personnel.

However, the Levies personnel expressed concern over the deduction from their salaries during Ramazan. —Correspondent

Boy killed doing wheelie

BUNER, Aug 7: A boy was killed and another was injured when two motorcycles collided while doing wheeling near Matak area here on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said the two boys were racing the motorcycles at Dewana Baba road when the accident occurred. The victim was identified as Nowsher, resident of Kalpani, while the injured, Rozmeen, resident of Kulyari, was taken to hospital.

Residents said the rising trend of wheeling on motorcycles by under-age boys had claimed a number of lives in the recent past as the police and the district administration remained silent to control the menace.

DPO Jehanzeb Khan Bangash has taken notice of the wheeling by young motorcyclists and directed the police to take action against motorcycles without number plates, drivers having no licence or vehicles without valid documents. —Correspondent
