LAHORE, July 31: A mob protesting unscheduled and prolonged power outages ransacked a Lesco office near Rustam Park Chowk in Samanabad on Tuesday, setting office files on fire and damaging appurtenance.

Rescue 1122 fire-fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

A police official told Dawn that 30-strong mob encircled the office and amid chants broke into the office and burnt some office files and damaged glass and office appurtenance. The official said before the police reached the spot the fire was already controlled by rescuers.

He said protesters then left the office and joined another group of protesters at Chapper Stop on Multan Road.

MURDERED: A youth was killed and five others were injured after some people attacked them with sticks and knives in M-Block of Model Town Extension on Tuesday.

Faisal Town police said Amanullah and accomplices attacked Sajawal, Sameer, Younas, Dilawar, Asim and Nadir and injured them.

The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital where Sajawal of Kot Lakhpat succumbed to his wounds.
