PESHAWAR, July 31: The prison department has recovered several prohibited items, including scores of cellular phones, from inmates during a search inside prisons across the province during last couple of days.

According to a press release issued by the home and tribal affairs department, the IG prisons had started special search campaign on the directives of the provincial home secretary in all the prisons of the province so as to recover the prohibited items.It was stated that remissions would be deducted from those prisoners from whom these prohibited items had been recovered.

The number of cellular phones recovered from different prisons include: 21 from district prison Mardan, six each from central prison Peshawar and district jail Mansehra, two each from central prison Bannu, sub-jail Karak and judicial lock-up at Tank and three each from district jails at Lakki Marwat and Daggar (Buner). —Bureau Report
