CHITRAL, July 29: Five persons, including three women, were killed in different incidents here on Sunday.

Two out of the three women committed suicide in different areas of the district while the third one was electrocuted.

Police said that Taj Bibi, a resident of Charun Oveer village, committed suicide by jumping into the Chitral River. Her body was recovered from the river near Chitral town.

In another incident, Khalida Fana, a student of Booni college, hanged herself to death. The reason behind the suicide could not be ascertained immediately.

In Mastuj town, a woman was electrocuted when she accidentally touched a power line while working in her garden.

In Shoghore area, two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries when a jeep plunged into a river on Chitral-Garam Chashma Road. The dead were identified as Shakeel Khan and Ahmed Baig.

PML-Q: Pakistan Muslim League-Q provincial chief Syed Qasim Shah has appointed Al-Haj Eidul Hussain as district president of the party. Addressing a press conference here, PML-Q central convener Dr Raj Shaheen said that Chitral was the stronghold of the party as its candidates were elected to parliament in the last general elections.

He said that on the demand of party workers, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would visit Chitral soon after Ramazan.

He said that the newly appointed district president was directed to reorganise the party in the district. PML-Q MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohiuddin was also present on the occasion.—Correspondent
