DERA ISMAIL KHAN, July 29: Scores of schoolteachers sacked in May 2010 held a rally here on Sunday to protest against the provincial government’s decision to deprive them of their means of livelihood.

The protesters holding placards marched from Haq Nawaz Park to the Topanwala bazaar in Dera city raising slogans against the ANP-led provincial government and the education authorities.

They said as many as 1,613 teachers had been recruited by the previous MMA government in July 2007.

They said the sacked teachers were victims of the politically biased decision of the ANP government.

They criticised MPAs and MNAs from D.I. Khan for failing to protect the rights of the teachers.—Correspondent
