LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that his party would fight against any conspiracy of delaying general elections for a year, DawnNews reported.

Chairing the party’s meeting, Sharif reiterated that free, fair and transparent elections were the only solution to the prevailing problems the country was facing. “Conspirators behind delaying the elections are living in a fool’s paradise,” said the PML-N chief.

He asserted that the party won the case of appointing a unanimous Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by staying in the parliament.

Sharif said that President Asif Ali Zardari would have triggered another crisis by appointing a biased CEC, if his party had decided to leave the assemblies.
