ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali wanted to resume dialogues with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to solicit alliance’s support to his government and planned a meeting with MMA vice president Qazi Hussain Ahmed at Lahore on Dec 21.

This was disclosed by the MMA’s central leader, Liaquat Baloch, while talking to Dawn after holding a detailed meeting with Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali at the prime minister’s secretariat on Wednesday.

The prime minister told Liaquat Baloch that he held talks with Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed in Peshawar last month and would like to resume talks from the same point.

Liaquat Baloch said when the prime minister asked about MMA’s decision not to support his government, he told Mr Jamali that the alliance’s decision to support him was conditional and was taken in the backdrop of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s decision to withdraw support.

The MMA leader reminded Mr Jamali that he was supposed to return with a solid reply on the MMA’s demands vis-a-vis LFO, constitutional amendments and the president’s status, but the alliance received no reply from the government.

Liaquat Baloch said that during the meeting latest political situation also came under discussion. He also condoled the death of prime minister’s nephew.
