MANSEHRA, July 22: Police here have seized a cache of arms and ammunition being sold illegally at an arms shop.

Mohammad Ijaz, DSP Mansehra, told media persons on Sunday that a police team raided an arms shop in the city and recovered 100 guns and as many pistols besides 25,000 rounds, which were being sold illegally.

He said that Mohammad Ishfaq, owner of the shop, had been arrested for alleged involvement in smuggling of arms and ammunition.

He urged people to cooperate with police in curbing crimes in Mansehra.

In another raid, Khaki police have seized 20 kg of charas and arrested an Afghan national Mohammad Sardar during a raid on a tent house in Sheikh Abad Afghan refugee camp.

“We have launched a crackdown against criminals and more raids are being planned in the city and its suburbs,” said Mr Ijaz.

He also asked people to cooperate with police in curbing crimes in Mansehra.

Answering a question, the DSP said that family of a minor girl, who was kidnapped from Karachi and recovered here the other day, was also traced. The girl would be handed over to them on their arrival in Mansehra, he said.

BODY FOUND: Police on Sunday recovered body of a man who went missing on way from Islamabad to his hometown Sungar in Balakot three days ago.

Relatives and police said that Mohammad Manzoor had gone missing soon after he informed his family by phone about his arrival, but could not reach home.

The family had lodged an FIR with Balakot police about his disappearance.

Local people on Sunday morning saw his body in a deserted place in Sungar village and informed police, who handed over the body to the bereaved family.

Police sources said that the victim was an engineer and working in Islamabad.

They said that Mr Manzoor was preparing for his second marriage after divorcing his first wife.
