KARACHI, July 20: The badly tortured body of a young man was found stuffed in a gunny bag in an Azizabad locality early Friday morning.

Police said the body was found in a narrow street of Husainabad within the remit of the Azizabad police station.

The police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the victim was identified as Mohammad Nadeem, 26.

The victim was a resident of Korangi No 2½ and was associated with plastic goods manufacturing.

He had recently relocated to the Korangi area from Nayyabad in Lyari to escape extortion demands, police quoting the victim’s family said.

He was kidnapped by unknown persons on Thursday and his tortured body with a bullet wound to the head was found on Friday morning, the police added.

The victim’s brother Riaz lodged an FIR against unknown suspects at the Azizabad police station.

Rickshaw driver

The body of a rickshaw driver was found in the Napier area on Friday morning.

Police said the body was found near Old Haji Camp, and they shifted it to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where the victim was identified as Gulfam Masih, 25.

Police said the victim had been shot to the head by unknown persons who had earlier kidnapped him.

He was a resident of Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad, and had gone missing on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the victim was an adopted son of his father and suspected that the killing was the result of some personal enmity.

Man killed in Korangi

The body of a man with three gunshot wounds was found in a Korangi area on Friday morning, police said.

The body was found within the remit of the Zaman Town police station.

The victim was identified as Liaquat Ali, 53.

The police said the victim was a fruit seller and had been shot thrice.

Quoting family sources, the police said the victim had a dispute with a man named Shahid and they suspected him to be involved in Liaquat’s killing.

The dead had three sons, the police added.

JSQM man

A young man was killed by unknown persons in the Shantinagar area on Friday.

Police said the killing took place within the remit of the Aziz Bhatti police station in Shantinagar, where Mohammad Jameel, 30, was shot dead by unknown persons near Jamali Centre.

Police said the victim was a worker of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz. However, police ruled out the killing as being politically motivated, saying that he was killed over some dispute in the neighbourhood.

The police took the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
