KARACHI, Dec 17: Renowned artist Ismail Guljee on Tuesday demanded an end to what he said the shabby treatment meted out to children in society.

Speaking at a poster and painting competition at the Art Council of Pakistan, organized by Madadgar Helpline, he said the government should work with full force to check torture against children.

Guljee praised the talent of children, depicted through posters and paintings, and said “all these paintings made by schoolchildren are of a high standard and are highly appreciable”.

About 13 schools had submitted 126 entries made by children in three categories, out of which the best poster prize was clinched by Harbsa of Karachi Cadet School, the second prize went to Zubair of Sarfraz College, while Danish Raza of Al-Murtaza School bagged the third prize.
