KARACHI, July 13: Neha Khan brushed aside Okasha to advance to the second round of the ladies singles event at the SSB Development Series ranking tennis championship at the Union Club on Friday. Neha displayed an all-round performance as she overcome her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

Of the 10 entries in the ladies singles event, six have been directly placed in the main round where they will be joined by two qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Fahim Bhutto, Shayan Mushahid and Hasnain Haider advanced to the men’s singles second qualifying round by winning their first round fixtures.

Men’s singles:

Qualifying round one: Fahim Bhutto bt Saad Malik 6-1, 6-4; Shayan Mushahid bt Saad Ahmed 6-2, 7-5; Hasnain Haider bt M. Aamir Taniyo 4-6, 7-5, 10-3.

Ladies singles:

First round: Neha Khan bt Okasha 6-0, 6-1. Juniors’ under-17 singles: Qualifying rounds: Shayan Mushahid bt Hamza Mallick 6-3, 6-3. Boys and girls under-15 singles: Qualifying round one: Khizer Imran bt S. Fahad Ahmed 8-7.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Juniors’ under-17 singles 10am; under-15 singles second qualifying round 12noon; men’s singles second qualifying round 1pm; ladies singles and boys’ under-15 doubles 3pm.
