KARACHI, July 11: The fourth Independence Day Cup Open Golf Championship formally tees off at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club on Thursday with subsidiary events on card.
According to Lt. Col Hussain Ali, deputy secretary of the club, the events that will take place on the opening day include masters, ladies and veterans (all nine holes); juniors, senior amateurs and amateurs handicap 10 to 18 (18 holes).
The pros and amateurs to be played over 54 holes concurrently, gets into action on Friday. The senior pros will be contested over 18 holes.
The Open event carries a lucrative prize money Rs0.9 million while another Rs0.1 million has been set aside for senior pros.
Country’s top pros and amateur golfers are in town to vie for honours in the event.—Sports Correspondent
