RAWALPINDI: His Imperial Majesty the Shahinshah of Iran arrived here last evening by his personal plane on a four-day visit during which he will hold important talks with President Mohammad Ayub Khan.

The Shah of Iran took control of the aircraft bringing him to Rawalpindi from Teheran for some time before it landed. The Shah, himself an experienced pilot, was in the cockpit of the Royal Viscount for some time before it touched down.

The Shah flew non-stop from Teheran to Rawalpindi in five hours, seven minutes.

The Shah and President Ayub are expected to discuss the two countries’ membership of the Central Treaty Organisation (CENTO) in the light of recent international developments and the United Nations vote on the Kashmir problem.

The two Heads of Sate might also discuss issues of common interest, including the question of Iran’s relations with Afghanistan with which Pakistan has no diplomatic relations.

The Shah was received at the PAF Airport, Chaklala, by President Ayub, Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Mohammad Musa, Speaker of the National Assembly Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan, Cabinet Ministers, high officials, prominent citizens, Iranian Ambassador Maj-Gen Hasan Arafa and officials of the Iranian Embassy.— Staff Correspondent
