RAWALPINDI, June 29: To protest the massive power outages in Punjab, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will stay in a tent office at the historical Liaquat Bagh to meet government officials, politicians and people from all walks of life during his one-day visit to the garrison city on Saturday.

The local administration has made all the arrangements for the tent office at Liaquat Bagh and police have also put in place security for the purpose.

Sources told Dawn that chief minister would review work for the revival of multi-billion project of Leh Nullah expressway that was started in Musharraf’s era but the work over the project was stopped after formation of PML-N government in 2008.

They added the CM would also review law and order situation in the division especially in the Rawalpindi district as he was annoyed over the rising rate of street crime here.

It is to mention here that with general elections approaching, the PML-N has started it election campaign and started giving time to party workers.

“For the first time in Rawalpindi during last four years, the chief minister will meet general public and receive their complaints directly,” a local resident said requesting anonymity.

Administration of allied hospitals has also made special arrangements for the CM’s expected visit to the hospitals to see the provision of health facilities to the patients in the wake of young doctors’ strike.
