SAHIWAL, Dec 14: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will hold a protest rally at Chavan village against the highhandedness of Pakpattan MNA Muhammad Khagga who illegally acquired 50 acres that belonged to a special person.

This was stated by MMA Central leader and JI Naib Amir Liaquat Baloch while talking to newsmen here late Friday.

Mukhtar Ahmed had complained to Liaquat Baloch that the sitting MNA took forcibly his 50 acres of land in 1985. He said he had run from pillar to post to get his land released, but to no avail.

Mr Baloch said the rally would be addressed by Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, Maulana Fazalur Rehman and other MMA leaders. The date for the rally would be announced in the MMA’s supreme council meeting, he added.

DISMISSED: An ASI and two constables were sacked on Saturday for their failure to check the smuggling of a pistol into the judicial lock-up which had resulted in injuries to three constables during the escape bid of two dacoits on Nov 25.

A woman had smuggled the pistol to dacoits into the lock-up which ASI Muhammad Yaqoob and constables Abdul Sattar and Ghulam Nabi could not detect due to their negligence. In their bid to escape, the dacoits opened fire on three constables when they tried to catch them. Though constables foiled their escape attempt, they received serious injuries. The injured constables are still under treatment at the local DHQ Hospital.
