LAHORE, Dec 14: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has expressed the hope that all (intra-party) differences with PML-Q president Mian Azhar, who is facing a no-confidence motion against him, will be resolved through mutual understanding.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he said (such) differences were not a cause for worry. “Such problems keep arising.”

However, he did not comment on Mian Azhar’s press statements about the Chaudhris.

The no-confidence motion against Mian Azhar has been tabled by PML-Q parliamentary party leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Shujaat Husain’s brother, Wajahat Husain. In the motion, the party president has been alleged to have worked against the interests of the party and the recently installed PML-Q government.

Asked if a no-confidence motion was also being tabled against Lahore district Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood, Mr Elahi said there was no move to replace him.

He said the function of his government was to strengthen the district government system. Any move to sabotage the system would be dealt with iron hand, he declared.

Mr Elahi also denied reports that there was a rift between the governor and him on the issue of boards of governors in educational institutions and hospitals.

“There is no difference between the governor and me on any issue,” he said.

The CM said the provincial cabinet would be announced “very soon.”
