WELLINGTON, June 20: Veteran all-rounder Daniel Vettori has made himself available for New Zealand’s ICC World Twenty20 campaign, reversing his decision to step down from the shorter forms of cricket.

Vettori, a former national captain, effectively retired last year from one-day and Twenty20 Internationals, saying he was concentrating on Test cricket after playing for New Zealand in all formats since 1997.

New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White on Wednesday welcomed Vettori’s decision.

White said: “Dan was the No 1-ranked Twenty20 bowler in 2009 and is widely regarded as one of the best Twenty20 exponents in world cricket. His availability is a real boost with his style of bowling well suited to conditions in Sri Lanka.”—AP
