LAHORE, June 14: A 24-year-old airhostess of a private airline was gunned down at doorstep in Bhatti Colony of Liaquatabad on Thursday by a man whose marriage proposal was turned down by her parents.

Liaquatabad police inquiries showed that Rabia Amjad and her maternal uncle, Ishaq, were shot at and wounded by suspect Raheel Awais who wanted to marry the girl. Rabia had also rejected his marriage proposal which apparently annoyed the suspect.

On Thursday, Rabia was returning home along with her uncle from the airport when Raheel opened fire on her killing her on the spot.

The police have registered a case on the complaint of victim’s brother Shahbaz and arrested the accused, who worked in a telecom company.

FOUND MURDERED: The body of a woman in her 80s was recovered from a drain in Kahna on Thursday.

The Kahna police said the victim, not yet identified, was apparently tortured to death.

The police shifted the body to a hospital for an autopsy and registered a case.

BURNT: An eight-year-old child died after he accidentally fell into a boiling pot at home in Kot Kamboh locality of Sherakot here on Thursday.

The police said Hamad, a son of cloth dyer Arshad, was playing near a pot when he fell into it.

He sustained fatal burn injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
