GILGIT, June 13: The residents of Thore valley staged a protest demonstration here on Wednesday against the district administration and demanded judicious price of their lands, occupied by the government for construction of Diamer-Basha dam.

“We are kept in dark about the details of land compensation award,” said Bakhtiar, who led the protesters. He said that they were deprived of their right.

He alleged that their cultivated lands were shown barren in the award.

He said that in fact it was a conspiracy against the construction of the dam, which was badly needed to strengthen economy of the country.

The protesters chanted slogans against the district administration and demanded of the government to replace the officials of district administration with public-friendly officials in Diamer.—Correspondent
