HYDERABAD, Dec 13: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party has protested against the “government decision” to appoint a new governor, now living in London, who is involved in several crimes and is a fugitive from law.

A resolution, adopted at the concluding session of the two- day meeting of the STPP central committee held here on Friday, termed the decision a cruel joke with democratic culture of Sindh.

The meeting criticized the government decision to withdraw criminal cases against the would-be governor.

Another resolution said that Sindh was paying 67 per cent of the revenue of the country but during the last 30 years, injustices had been done with the province regarding the National Finance Commission award.

The meeting called upon the newly elected members of the assemblies from Sindh to perform their due role in getting judicious financial award for Sindh.

It also urged the elected representatives from Sindh to strongly oppose the construction of greater Thal canal, Kalabagh dam and other water projects.

Expressing grave concern over the continued closure of sugar mills in the province, the meeting demanded of the government to direct the sugar mills to start the crushing season without any further delay.

The meeting also demanded that the minimum price of sugarcane should be fixed at Rs60 per 40kg.

It demanded that the status of district for Umerkot should be restored.
