LAHORE, June 8: Grammar High School, Faisalabad and Multan Pilot High School qualified for the semi-finals of the inaugural National Inter-school Baseball Championships after winning their opening-day matches at the Punjab Stadium here on Friday.

In the first match, Faisalabad’s Grammar High school outclassed Science Base School, Gujranwala ‘B’ 10-4. Umair and Mohammad Ahmed were the key scorers for the winners with the contribution of two runs each. Hamza Arshad, Bilal, Chand, Aqeel, Zeeshan and Zubair scored one run each.

The losing side’s Murtaza, Usman, Umair and Tanvir added one run each to reduce the defeat margin.

Meanwhile, Multan Pilot High School drafted a 7-2 win against Model High School, Islamabad.

For the winners, Saddam and Faraz Khan made two runs each while Zeeshan Saeed, Nauman Nasir and Zeeshan chipped in with one run apiece. Mudassar and Tahir registered one run each for the losers.

In the third match of the day, Science Base School, Gujranwala ‘A’ team overpowered Multan Public School 11-5.

Two more semi-finalists will be decided on Saturday. Nine schools are taking part in the competition.
