KARACHI, June 7: The body of a young man was found in the Arambagh furniture market early Thursday morning.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where the victim was identified as Kamran Ali, 28, resident of Usman Plaza, Malir.

The police said the victim was killed by his kidnappers who dumped the body in the furniture market.

The body was trussed up and the victim had been shot in the head, they added.

A relative of the victim, Mohammad Ibrahim, received his body from the Edhi morgue after identification, they said.

Police registered a case (FIR 163/2012) against unidentified men on a complaint of the state at the Arambagh police station.

‘Bandit’ killed in shootout with police

A suspected bandit was shot dead in what the police described as an encounter in North Karachi within the remit of the Sir Syed police station on Thursday.

The shootout took place at Elahi Milk Shop, in Sector 7-D of North Karachi, after two men riding a motorcycle snatched Rs10,000 from Afzal, the shop owner. They were trying to escape when they were intercepted by a police party. The bandits resorted to firing into the air.

The police opened fire on them.

As a result, one of the bandits sustained gunshot and fell off the motorcycle. However, his accomplice managed to flee. SHO Changaiz Khan said the police seized a pistol, a cellphone and Rs10,000 from his possession before shifting the suspect to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The officer said that the identity of the bandit could not be immediately ascertained.

The police shifted the body to the Edhi morgue after completing medico-legal formalities.  They registered a case (FIR No 272/2012) on shop owner Afzal’s complaint.

Fruit vendor gunned down

A man was shot dead in Kunwari Colony off Manghopir Road.

Police said Imam Badshah, 50, was returning home after offering Zuhar prayers when four suspects riding two motorcycles intercepted him and sprayed him with bullets.

The victim suffered eight gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

The police said the victim was a fruit vendor. He originally hailed from Charsada in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Man shot dead

A middle-aged man was shot dead in Liaquatabad’s B-1 Area on Thursday.

Police said the killing took place in Angara Goth, where Hanif Baloch, 45, was attacked by suspects riding a motorcycle.

The incident took place when the victim was standing in front of his home, police said.

They said the victim ran a reti-bajri business and the police suspected some personal enmity as a probable motive for the murder.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
