KARACHI, June 6: The 24th National Scrabble Championship will be held at DHA Model High School at DHA Phase 4 from June 8 to 10.

Around 40 of the finest scrabble players in the country will compete for the national title in the master category. Twenty-three year old Waseem Khatri is the hot favourite to regain his title from veteran Rashid Khan who ended Waseem’s three-year winning streak in 2011.

A gruelling 27 rounds will be played by each player making it the longest and the toughest national championship ever.

The highlight of this year’s championship is that it will be the first ever internationally-rated scrabble tournament in the country as the governing body of international scrabble recently approved the international rating of Pakistan’s national championship.

Live results will be available on the Pakistan Scrabble Association’s official internet site www.pakistanscrabble.org Games in the general categories of the championship will be played in July; the date will be announced later.
