THE government’s decision to close government offices and business activities twice a week is astonishing for everyone. If we want to solve the energy crisis, we should build new dams in different parts of the country.

We should minimise the theft of electricity and sign an agreement with IPPs according to our country’s interest.

According to the president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, any new increase in electricity tariffs will further spoil the country’s industry and increase unemployment.

Discrimination Recently, power companies published a half-page advertisement that consumers owed Rs300 billion to them. If the companies get this amount, it will reduce the duration of loadshedding and the miseries of millions.

Later another media report revealed that main defaulters were government departments, colonies of bureaucrats and, of course, politicians.

My heart goes out to people living without power in huts and tents and under bridges. This is naked discrimination between the elite and the scum of the earth.
