LANDI KOTAL, June 3: Activists of the banned Lashkar-i-Islam killed two men and a woman in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Sunday after accusing them of being involved in illicit affair.

A spokesman for the Bara-based militant group told reporters by phone that its activists had caught the three people “red handed” in Qambar Khel area and they had been punished “in accordance with the Shariat”.

The spokesman, Abu Rasheed Lashkari, said the three “accused” were residents of the area.

AMNESTY: The Akkakhel ‘peace committee’ has announced a general amnesty for all militants affiliated with any organisation if they surrender unconditionally and give an undertaking about good conduct in future.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the committee’s chief Haji Gul Meeran, the militants have been given the deadline of June 10 to surrender.

After the date, the committee will take action against all militants living in Akkakhel and impose a fine of Rs5 million on anyone sheltering outlaws. Houses of such people would also be demolished, the statement warned.

Dawn has learnt that dozens of Kukikhel families of Tirah valley moved to Jamrud on Sunday after Taliban of the Tariq Afridi group asked them to immediately vacate their homes.

A Kukikhel tribal lashkar and Taliban have been engaged in fierce clashes since Thursday that have claimed several lives on both sides.

According to sources, the tribe sent fresh volunteers from Jamrud to help the lashkar fighting the militants in Dwa Theo, Sra Vela and Mehraban Kali localities.
