KARACHI, May 31: An anti-terrorism court declared the chief of outlawed People’s Amn Committee and other suspected gangsters absconders in three cases on Thursday.

Investigating officers charge-sheeted head of the proscribed committee Uzair Jan Baloch, Umar Kuchchi, Sikandar and others under Section 512 (record evidence in absence of accused) of the criminal procedure code (CrPC) in explosive and encounter cases.

They were booked for allegedly attacking police with explosive during a recently conducted operation in Lyari. The cases were registered at the Napier and Kalakot police stations.

Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of ATC-III declared them absconders and ordered to initiate proceedings against them under Sections 87 (proclamation for person absconding) and 88 (attachment of property of persons absconding) of the CrPC.
