JAC plans protest processions

FAISALABAD, Dec 12: The Faisalabad chapter of the Joint Action Committee of teachers, doctors and students announced on Thursday their future course of action.

They have been protesting against the constitution of boards of governors for health and educational institutions, sacking of over a dozen senior doctors and teachers, and the Model University Ordinance.

In a statement, JAC office-bearers vowed to continue the protest till the acceptance of their demands.

They alleged that some senior bureaucrats were misguiding the governor and the chief minister about the ground realities.

They said that protest processions would be taken out from the GC University, Faisalabad, on Saturdays; from the Government College, Samanabad, on Mondays; from the Municipal Degree College and the Commerce College, Abdullahpur, on Tuesdays.

Protest meetings would be held at the Government College of Science and the Islamia College, Sargodha Road, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, respectively.

Protest processions would be taken out from the Government College, Satiana Road, on Fridays.

GUJRANWALA: Teachers and students on Thursday took out a protest rallies in Naushera Virkan and Alipur Chattha against the government for constituting boards of governors in educational institutions.

The protest rallies were organized by Anjuman Talaba-i-Islam (ATI) which were participated in by the teaching staff of colleges and schools.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogans against the government. They demanded of the Punjab Chief Minister to withdraw the decision in the larger interest of students and teachers. They also demanded that the government should also reinstate all sacked teachers and doctors.
