ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: The ambassador of Japan called on Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Wednesday and discussed the issue of Kashmir, Pakistan-India relations, the political scenario and bilateral relations.

According to a press release issued by the Jamaat, during the 45-minute meeting, the ambassador said his country sought peace and stability in the region and in this context its friendship with Pakistan was inevitable.

The JI leader said leaving the Kashmiri people at the mercy of India without resolving the dispute was tantamount to insulting the resolutions adopted by the UN.

Qazi said peace in the region was being eroded because of the Kashmir dispute.

He said that if India stopped declaring Kashmir its inevitable part, the dispute could be resolved in accordance with the will of the people of Kashmir by implementation of the United Nations resolutions.

He said the world would have to make a distinction between terrorism and freedom movements.

The JI leader praised the progress achieved by Japan in education and technology.
