ISLAMABAD, May 30: Unseeded Raja Shahid shocked seeded player Syed Zohair Raza to qualify for the second round of Vigo Champ Subh-e-Nau National Tennis here at Islamabad Club on Wednesday.

Enjoying the benefit of playing in local conditions, Raja Shahid came back strongly after losing the first set to win the match in style. Other players who won their matches included third seeded Mohammad Abid, former Davis Cupper Asim Shafique, Talha Zubair, Ahmed Babar, Sanaullah Khan, Abid Ali Akbar and Usman Rafique.

Second round of men’s singles will be played on Thursday.
