NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 30: Neurosurgeon Dr Aftab Qureshi was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Khan Wahan on Wednesday.

His brother Dr Munawar Ali told reporters that the kidnappers had demanded Rs20 million for his release but the talks had been discontinued a few days ago.

Reliable sources said the kidnappers had shifted Dr Qureshi to Hyderabad after a deal with them had been finalised but Karachi police without proper planning had taken an action in which the neurosurgeon, an ASI and an outlaw were killed.

The deceased has left behind fours sons, one daughter and a widow. Doctors of the Civil Hospital of Naushahro Feroze, led by PMA district president Dr Abdullah Tunio, took out a procession to the press club in protest against the murder.

Doctors of the taluka hospital in Kandiaro, led by Dr Din Mohammad Khoso, held a demonstration.

They said Dr Qureshi was a top neurosurgeon and it was a colossal loss to the profession. They demanded an inquiry and arrest of the killers.
