PARACHINAR, May 28: Three people were killed and nine others injured on Monday when armed men attacked a bus with grenade and gun near Charkhel village in Lower Kurram Agency.

Sources said the gunmen had their faces covered and lobbed the grenade into the bus going to Peshawar from Parachinar. The assailants who were in a car opened fire on the bus when it stopped.

Driver Abid Hussain and two passengers died. Women and children were among the nine people injured.

The injured were taken to the Combined Military Hospital in Thall.

This was the second attack on passengers on the Thall-Parachinar Road in the past seven days. Earlier on Wednesday, armed men had attacked a vehicle going from Parachinar to Peshawar in lower Kurram, injuring four passengers.

Political Agent Shahab Ali Shah told journalists that one attacker had been arrested and explosives were recovered from his possession.
