Published December 13, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said it would promote the jewellery & gems industry in the country.

This was stated by ICCI president Mian Akram Farid while addressing an exhibition of fashion jewellery, design glass & lamps, jointly organized by Romanian Embassy and Pakistan-Romania Friendship Forum.

Akram Farid said jewellery industry was very stable in Pakistan and it had vast field for further exposure. ICCI always works for the promotion of this industry and “we will make special efforts to explore more opportunities.”

“The Pakistani designers of jewellery have a good know-how about the modern designs. Their products are popular all around the world, particularly in the Gulf countries. Although they need some assistance from the government and related departments for further projection in this field, ICCI will provide them this chance,” he said.

Later, Ambassador of Romania Aimal Ghitulescu and the ICCI president exchanged their views on enhancing the mutual trade of both countries. The Romanian ambassador showed his great interest in the local made products of Pakistan.—APP
